to continue from yesterday….
I am comfortable with the thought that one of the reasons we were created was to enjoy everything God has to offer. He wants to share His love with us and bless us, and share his legacy with others. Why wouldn’t He want to share it? How could anyone who possesses selfless love and unlimited power not want to share it with countless others? Similar to when we have an abundance of love in a relationship and want to seal it with marriage. And when we have children who look like us and love like us, they can enjoy an intimate love relationship with us just as we should have an intimate relationship with God.
But if I start asking more questions and diving in even deeper, could we have been created to fulfill an eternal predestined plan? Ephesians 1:4-5 states, “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,” Is this a predestined plan to defeat Satan? Ephesians 6:11 says, “Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Bringing others towards God and eternal life with him defeats the devil. And maybe this is beyond my human comprehension but if we are predestined to go to heaven then why does it matter what we do?
I recently heard of Christian Stewardship as well, which is the belief that a Christian’s responsibility is to maintain and use wisely the gifts that God has bestowed. I agree with this to some extent since Genesis says, a man was created to rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground. He also gave us every seed-bearing plant and every tree that has fruit and seed in it. Those are all gifts from God that we should never take for granted but this cannot be our sole purpose, can it?
After doing much research, praying, waiting, and listening this is the conclusion I have come to, we are not ever to fully understand with our human bodies why we were created. Our purpose is to live, to the best of our ability and knowledge, according to his will which is found in the bible. The red text found in the bible explains more about how we are supposed to live our lives than any how-to or self-help book could provide. The question shouldn’t be why, it should be how.
